There's a book I started reading a few weeks ago called Fervent, by Priscilla Shirer.
The cover reads, "A Woman's Battle Plan for Serious, Specific, and Strategic Prayer."
I had no idea that it would change my prayer life in the way it did.
Yes, I would pray everyday. Take some time out of my day to talk to Him. But, I never prayed like this before.
It became more than just getting on my knees to ask Him for a bunch of things. It was me taking the time to really connect with Him. To not only find the peace I had be searching for, but for me to fight a battle I knew I wasn't winning at the time.
"If all we're doing is flinging words and emotions in all directions without any real consideration for the specific ways the enemy is targeting us and the promises of God that apply to us, we're mostly just wasting our time."
When you have a conversation with someone and their thoughts are all over the place, and they just say a lot of random things, you can't really get the just of what they are wanting. Same way with God. When we come before we have to break down every little detail. Reach way down in the pit of your soul and pull out all those things you're battling. Explain it to Him. He wants to hear about it all.
"Through prayer you'll not only be able to defend yourself from incoming sniper fire but through Almighty God will be able to push into enemy territory and take ... stuff ... back."
Not only can you pray through what you're facing now you have the power through Jesus Christ to take back what the devil took from you.
Take back your hope.
Take back your happiness.
Take back your relationships.
Take back your desire.
Take back your attitude.
Take back your identity.
Oh it's possible.
You need a plan. A strategy for war. Because, it's not gonna get easier. The enemy is after you. He's ready to steal everything you have.
Get before God, alone, in a silent place and start working.
You're gonna make the devil be sorry he ever messed with you. You're about to become his worst nightmare.
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplications for all saints;
And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel.
- Ephesians 6:18-19
