Expecting the Return

I want to talk to the people that are the constant givers. The people that love without gates. The ones that never stop. The human beings that give more and more even when they're on empty. If that isn't you, that's okay, but you know someone that is.

Give without expecting anything in return isn't the hard part. What's hard is when you invest time, words, and prayers into a person or situation expecting something to change.

That's always been the biggest battle for me. I'm talking to myself more than anything.

In any relationship you have, you invest.

If it's just conversation or showing kindness, you don't do it just so it will go to waste. You invest so something can grow. Your relationship with them, their relationship with God, or whatever it may be. You want it to bloom and thrive.

Those that know I'm talking straight to you, you're not alone. I'm right there with you. I invest so much into everything I do. I don't know what it's like to just do things half way. I care so much. I'm a very passionate person.

The struggle is when you put all these wonderful things in, and nothing happens. Absolutely nothing. Your relationships aren't growing. Their relationship with God isn't thriving, and here you are. You've done everything. You've prayed & fasted. You've cried & begged God to change the problem or their hearts.

Yet, you're here. Empty and helpless. You can't do anything.

My dad constantly reminds me, "Sweetie, you can't help people that don't want to be helped."

I hate hearing that. It kills me. How could they not want help? Why do they want to be miserable, when they could be happy? He's right though, you can't. When you get to the point to where you have done EVERYTHING humanly possible to be a blessing to a person and nothing changes, it is not your fault. Step back, and let God do His job. You've planted a seed, let God work on it. Don't constantly torment yourself asking what you done wrong, or what you could've done different.

You can't fix people, but you can work on yourself.

"And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,

To keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?" - Deuteronomy 10:12-13
